Nurse Residency Opportunities!

Thank you for your interest in our Nurse Residency program. The next hospital application cycle will open on May 13. However, we still have many opportunities in our clinic areas.

August Grads = Fall Cohort
December Grads = Spring Cohort
Or select the application that is closest to your anticipated graduation date. If you have already graduated, please apply for the cohort you wish to start.

Application Instructions

1. Select the application link and follow the instructions.

2. Be prepared to answer the following questions within the application.

What interests you about joining (or continuing to work on) our team at Billings Clinic and what expectations and/or reservations do you have being part of the Nurse Residency Program?
Leadership is very important at Billings Clinic; Please provide examples of how you have demonstrated leadership.
What quality or skill do you feel separates you from other applicants?
What are your 2-5 year goals in nursing?
What department or nursing unit interests you the most and why?
If you are not selected for employment on your preferred unit or department, what other two departments or units interest you? (If applicable)
Is there one department or nursing unit you would like to avoid? Why?

3. Attach resume to application.

4. Submit application by appropriate deadline.

Application Deadlines

Applications are accepted on a year round basis, depending on unit availability. Billings Clinic offers spring, summer, and fall cohort start dates. Nurse Residency cohort spots fill first with applicants adhering to application deadline*. Due to limited Nurse Residency cohort spots, applications in the available units may still be considered for the next cohort start date. (Example: If you are a May 2024 graduate, and submit an application in April 2024, and if the Summer 2024 nurse residency cohort is full, you will be considered for the Fall 2024 nurse residency cohort.)

New graduate nurses with less than 12 months of experience will participate in the nurse residency program. Candidates who apply after closing dates in the available units will still be considered.

If you possess a nursing license, and have less than 12 months of experience, we accept applications year-round for our Med/Surg division.

If you have not yet graduated from nursing school, please review the appropriate deadlines below.

December 2023 Graduate Application Period:

Opens: July 24, 2023
Priority Window Closes*: September 29, 2023

Interviews: October 2023

May 2024 Graduate Application Period:
Opens: January 8, 2024
Priority Window Closes*: February 2 2024
Interviews: February 2024

August 2024 Graduate Application Period:
Opens: May 13, 2024
Priority Window Closes*: May 31, 2024
Interviews: June 2024

December 2024 Graduate Application Period:
Opens: August 26, 2024
Priority Window Closes*:September 20, 2024
Interviews: October 2024

*Please note, due to popular demand, not all units may be available until the priority deadline due to the amount of applications received and the interview spots available.

Nurse Residency Program

The Billings Clinic Nurse Residency program supports newly registered nurses through the transition from student to competent professional nurse during the first year of practice. The one-year program provides graduate nurses with the skills and knowledge necessary to deliver competent, safe, and effective patient-centered care. Nurse Residents are full-time employees who are eased into the role of professional nurse under the guidance and support of:
